Pre-k My School DC Lottery Application

The lottery application deadline for PK3 and PK4 is March 1, 2024 for the 24-25SY. Families must use the My School DC application to apply to PK programs offered by schools that participate in My School DC. Click HERE to locate your DCPS in-boundary PK program.

Step by step instructions of how to enroll are below.

Enrollment Instructions for 24/25 School Year:

1.) Create a My School DC Family Account.

  • Create one family account.

  • Use this account to submit one application for each child in your family applying to a new school; each child gets their own application in your family account. You will need to provide an email address or create a username, and set a password. Once you create an account, make sure to write down your login information in a safe place.

2.) Next, start a My School DC Application.

You need the following information to complete a My School DC application:

Information about your child

  • Name

  • Date of birth

  • Current school and grade

  • Application grade

  • Sibling information (as needed)

Basic information about your family

  • Legal guardian’s name (first and last)

  • Contact information, including guardian's home address.

School Selections

  • You can choose up to 12 schools.

  • List your 1st choice (the school that you like most), then your 2nd choice, and so forth. Review your choices to ensure that they are listed in the order you like most.

  • You have until the deadline to make any edits on your application and until March 15th to update your school rankings.

TIP: The order in which you list your schools matters! Students can only be matched with one school and are waitlisted only at the schools they ranked higher than the school where they are matched or enrolled. Watch this helpful video to learn why it is important to list your school choices in the order you like most.

3.) Finally, submit your application by the deadline!

The deadline to apply to PK3 – PK4 is March 1, 2024. You can download and print each application for your records. Remember: The lottery is a random lottery; there is no advantage to applying early. However, applicants must apply by the application deadlines to be entered into the lottery. Watch this short video to understand the application process from start to finish.

If you need assistance completing all enrollment documentation, please call the main office at (202) 576-6226 and we will be happy to help. Please make sure to have your documents ready, including proof of residency. We look forward to another great year at John Lewis!

To attend schools, students must be current with their immunizations. Immunization compliance is documented by submitting a completed Universal Health Certificate to the school at the time of enrollment. A series of medical forms, DCPS School Enrollment Packet.pdf, should be turned in to the school as part of the enrollment process, and any updated forms throughout the school year should be submitted to the school nurse.
