Math Common Core Standards
The Common Core is a set of nationally recognized academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy. These learning goals outline what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. The standards were created to ensure that all students graduate from high school with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life, regardless of where they live.

At the beginning of school year 2014-2015, DCPS began implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), which is a set of science standards based upon the National Research Council’s 2011 Framework for K-12 Science Education. The NGSS standards focus on science and engineering practices, emphasize critical thinking, designing solutions to real-world problems, and are conducive to project-based learning.

All DCPS students study earth, life, physical science, engineering and technology throughout their school experience.
