Good Afternoon John Lewis Families,
At John Lewis, we are committed to providing a safe learning environment for our scholars. Communicating about issues that impact our facilities is critical to fostering strong partnerships with families.
Around 11:45 a.m. today, our building experienced a brief water outage due to work occurring in the neighborhood. Our DC Public Schools (DCPS) Facilities and Operations Teams worked closely with our city partners and DC Water, and water was restored shortly after 12:00 p.m.
I want to assure families that there was no change to our school day during the outage, and instruction continued as planned. Additionally, there was no impact on our cafeteria or meal service. The remainder of the day will proceed as usual.
We apologize for this inconvenience, and want to assure you that during utility interruptions, our priority is to maintain student safety throughout the outage and repair work while limiting disturbance to instruction.
